The group flew to Athens, Greece, and the ship was waiting in a nearby port. The first stop was the island of Mykonos with its fantastic views and historic windmills.
Enjoying some great Greek food...
and some great shopping.
The Journey then sailed to Turkey where NexTourists explored the port of Kusadasi and historic Ephesus.
The ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus with a local celebrity!
The Library at Ephesus
Azamara passengers were treated to an "AzAmazing Evening". In the ruins at Ephesus guests were treated to refreshments and a concert by the Turkish Orchestra--all while sitting in the historic theater where the apostle Paul once preached. It was truly AzAmazing!
Thanks to Gwen for these great photos:
The island of Kos was the next stop on our journey. This is the island that was visited by Hercules, Hippocrates, and the Knights of St. John's. Now a group of NexTourists can say that they visited it as well!
The tree of Hippocrates
NexTourists experienced sunshine at the Aegean Sea port of Rhodes with its medieval walled city and ancient acropolis.
The ship's entertainment included an international dinner called White Night.
One NexTourist even had the opportunity to dance with Elvis himself!
After stopping in Marmaris, touted as the Riviera of the Aegean Sea, our final distination was Santorini, Greece. This volcanic island with its white-washed villages that cling to the volcanic cliffs was a perfect ending to a wonderful voyage.
